If you have been playing Call of Duty lately, you might have noticed that shaders are being installed. If you have Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, these shaders are installed in 3 phases: single player, multiplayer and co-op.
Why are shaders installed?
The shaders are installed before playing. These are installed in order to gain a performance boost. In fact, if the shaders are not installed, then you will notice some stuttering when gaming. This would be especially noticeable in multiplayer games when quick reaction time is essential.
When are Shaders installed?
Shaders are installed after the game is installed and opened for the first time. Furthermore, installation of shaders will also occur after installing a game update or after updating the graphics drivers.
The game crashes when installing the shaders
This is quite a common issue. I have noticed that restarting the computer sometimes resolved the issue.
If you have an Nvidia graphics card, make sure to select the clean installation during the update. This will uninstall the old drivers and install the updated drivers.
If you have pirated software running on your PC, this might also result in crashes. Users have said that background processes created by KMS activators have resulted in the game crashing.
The shaders got corrupted. How do I reinstall them?
Shaders reinstallation can be performed by going to the settings in the game and selecting the option to reinstall the shaders.
